Quảng Bình’s discharged COVID-19 patient re-positive

QUẢNG BÌNH — A COVID-19 who lives in the central province of Quảng Bình, has been suspected to suffer a relapse, according to Nguyễn Đức Cường, Director of the provincial Health Department.

Cường said that the patient, with registered residence in Liêm Hoá 1 village, Trung Hoá Commune, Minh Hoá District, entered the country from Romania through Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City on November 8.

He was taken to Củ Chi COVID-19 treatment hospital after testing positive for coronavirus. The patient was discharged from the hospital on December 3 after several negative tests.

After leaving the hospital, he took a coach from HCM City to Quảng Bình and got off the coach at about 6pm on December 4 at Trung Hoá Commune.

He made a health declaration at the medical station of Trung Hoa commune where his temperature was taken and a normal result was obtained.

On December 7, the Quảng Bình Centre for Disease Control took his sample for testing and found that he was positive again.

His sample has been sent to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang for confirmation.

Currently, local authorities have sent the patient to a local hospital for treatment, while sending all people having close contact with him to centralised quarantine facilities and to be tested for coronavirus. — VNS
