HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Red Cross Society (VNRC) provided its third emergency aid to three central provinces affected by floods, including Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị and Hà Tĩnh on October 19.
The total value of money and goods is nearly VNĐ2.7 billion (US$116,600). Of which, Quảng Bình Province received VNĐ500 million, 400 boxes of household goods, 300 bags of household goods and 300 boxes of water filter powder; VNĐ500 million, 400 boxes of household goods, 300 bags of household goods, 300 boxes of water filter powder for Quảng Tri Province; and VNĐ300 million, 300 boxes of household goods, 400 bags of household goods, 200 boxes of water filter powder for Hà Tĩnh Province.
On November 20, VNRC will send two working groups to the three provinces.
Previously, the VNRC decided to provide emergency relief to the provinces of Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Quảng Nam and Thừa Thiên Huế with a total value of nearly VNĐ2 billion.
On October 14, the VNRC president Nguyễn Thị Xuân Thu also called on Red Cross members nationwide and local and international communities to help flood victims in the central region.
The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that as of Monday morning, 90 people were killed and 34 others were still missing due to the floods in the central region. — VNS
