HÀ NỘI — One new imported COVID-19 case was reported on Thursday evening, bringing the national total to 1,100.

The patient is a 29-year-old Vietnamese man from Đông Triều Township in the northern province of Quảng Ninh.

He arrived at Cần Thơ International Airport from Russia on the flight QH9495 on September 26 and was taken to quarantine upon his arrival.

He had close contact with four other people who have tested positive for coronavirus.

On October 4, he had symptoms of fever, cough, sore-throat and lost his sense of smell.

His second coronavirus test on October 7 at HCM City’s Pasteur Institute was positive.

The patient is currently under treatment at the General Hospital of Bạc Liêu.

A total of 14,250 people – who either came into close contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases or returned from virus-hit regions – are currently quarantined across Việt Nam.

To date, 1,023 patients have recovered, while 35 COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded. — VNS
