HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam recorded one imported case of COVID-19 on Friday evening, increasing the national tally to 1,060.

The 21-year-old man, hailing from central Thanh Hóa Province, was quarantined upon arrival after landing in Việt Nam on a flight from Russia on Tuesday.

He tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on Friday and is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hà Nội’s Đông Anh District.

Friday also saw nine COVID-19 recoveries including four in Đà Nẵng City, three in Quảng Nam Province, one in the Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk and one in northern Hải Dương Province.

Restaurants, café and shops in Đà Nẵng City, once Việt Nam’s epicentre of COVID-19, have been allowed to reopen from Friday, albeit with strict pandemic preventive measures in place.

Việt Nam has gone nine days without COVID-19 community infection.
