HÀ NỘI — Nearly 240 Vietnamese citizens were flown home from Myanmar on a flight that landed at HCM City’s Tân Sơn Nhất Airport on Thursday.

The passengers included children aged under 18, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with illnesses.

The Embassy of Việt Nam in Myanmar sent its staff to help the passengers complete all required procedures before boarding the flight.

Strict security, safety and hygiene measures were enforced by Vietnam Airlines during the flight to protect the passengers’ health and prevent COVID-19 transmission.

Upon arrival at the airport, all passengers and crew members were given health checks and quarantined at State-designated facilities.

Three more repatriation flights to bring home Vietnamese citizens from the US, Middle East and Canada are scheduled on Thursday.

Vietnamese authorities and overseas missions plan to arrange more similar flights, depending on demand and quarantine capacity at home. — VNS
