Last victim of quarry landslide found

ĐIỆN BIÊN — The body of the last victim of a stone quarry explosion in the northern mountainous province of Điện Biên was found yesterday, according to local authorities.

It brought the total number of dead victims to three.

The explosion was triggered by a bolt of lightning.  

According to initial reports, explosives were placed at the mine of Hoàng Anh Company in Na Ư Commune, Điện Biên District, when lightning struck during a thunderstorm on Monday afternoon.

This caused a landslide leaving two people from Ninh Bình Province and one from Điện Biên buried under the rocks.

At around 7.15pm that night, rescuers recovered the bodies of two people. — VNS
