HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội Police have decided to launch legal proceedings against two people for allegedly selling fake monosodium glutamate (MSG).

Vũ Hùng Tuấn, 42, and his mother, Trần Thị Nhung, 67, from Hà Nội’s Hà Đông, will be prosecuted for “manufacturing and trading of counterfeit products”.

Earlier, on May 14, police checked a truck driven by Tuấn in Đống Đa District and found five boxes of fake Ajinomoto monosodium glutamate.

Tuấn claimed that he was transporting these fake products for consumption.

Police searched Tuấn’s grocery store in Hà Đông District and seized one tonne of MSG branded as Ajinomoto and Miwon, as well as packaging machines, packages and eight boxes of material with a Chinese brand.

Police said Tuấn’s mother imported products of unknown origin to make a profit.  VNS
