HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has the highest trust in COVID-19 media coverage, with 89 per cent of respondents expressing their belief in a poll, recently conducted by the UK’s data analysis and market research firm YouGov.

YouGov said that despite its sprawling border with China, Việt Nam managed to stop COVID-19 in its tracks relatively early. Experts have commended the Vietnamese strategy which has resulted in a mere 324 cases and no deaths as of May 20.

The second and third ranks belong to India with 67 per cent and China 62 per cent.

In Germany, 54 per cent of people trust their media's COVID-19 coverage. The rate is 50 per cent in Spain, 42 per cent in the United States and 38 per cent in Italy.

The United Kingdom's media landscape has been bitterly fragmented and divided by Brexit and it is hardly a surprise that faith in its COVID-19 coverage is one of the lowest in the dataset at just 31 per cent.

Behind the UK is France with only 26 per cent.— VNS
