ĐỒNG NAI — The Investigation Police Department of southern Đồng Nai Province have arrested two suspects in an armed robbery. The men allegedly used a gun to steal from a local family home.
On April 11, Đào Huy Hoàng and Phạm Minh Hoàng, both 28, attempted to break into a house in Xuân Lộc District’s Bảo Hoà Hamlet at 3am in the morning.
Trương Tiến Hậu, the house owner, and his wife and three children were sleeping.
The two suspects approached the daughters' room, tied them up and took their jewellery, including a gold necklace and a bracelet.
The suspects then entered the other family members' room. They threatened Hậu, his wife and son with a firearm and robbed a large amount of money and gold, as well as the registration papers and key to a Honda-branded SH motorbike.
The victims were brutally assaulted in the robbery.
The two suspects fled only after the son managed to get out and shout for help.
Colonel Nguyễn Văn Kim, deputy director of the provincial Police Department, said the estimated value of stolen property was VNĐ217 million (US$9,230).
The suspects were arrested shortly after.
The case is under further investigation. — VNS
