HÀ NỘI — A three-month old baby in the northern province of Vĩnh Phúc has become the 15th patient infected with the new strain of coronavirus in Việt Nam, the health ministry confirmed on Tuesday morning.

The baby girl from Quất Lưu Commune, Bình Xuyên District is the grandchild of the 55-year-old woman who was diagnosed with the virus on Sunday.

The woman was infected from a neighbour named N.T.D. in Sơn Lợi Commune, Bình Xuyên District who tested positive for the virus after coming back home from a training course in China’s Wuhan City.

N.T.D. was discharged from hospital with two other patients from Vĩnh Phúc on Monday.

On January 28, the three-month old baby was taken by her mother to her grandmother’s house in Bình Xuyên District and stayed there for four days.

After the grandmother was found to be infected, local authorities listed the baby and her mother as having close contact with the patient.

On February 6, the baby started to cough and have a runny nose.

She is now being quarantined with her mother due to her age at the Quang Hà General Clinic, Bình Xuyên District.

Both are in a stable condition.

The patient’s mother was tested for the 2019-nCoV. The result is yet to be announced.

Among 15 nCoV patients in Việt Nam, 10 are from Vĩnh Phúc Province.
