HCM CITY — HCM City’s District 4 People’s Procuracy on Thursday issued an indictment for sexual abuse involving a former official of Đà Nẵng City People’s Procuracy.

Nguyễn Hữu Linh, 61, former deputy head of Đà Nẵng City People’s Procuracy, was prosecuted for molesting a child under 16 years old, under Article 146 in the 2015 Criminal Code, with a penalty of up to three years in prison, Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) newspaper reported.

As Việt Nam News Agency previously reported, on the afternoon of April 2, a social media video clip recorded a man wrapping his arms around a girl’s neck and kissing her in an apartment elevator. The girl was trying to get away but the man only let go when the door opened. The video clip spread online.

The man was later identified as Nguyễn Hữu Linh.

On April 21, HCM City’s District 4 Police started legal proceedings against Linh, and on April 22, District 4 People's Procuracy approved the decision. — VNS
