ĐÀ NẴNG — Two training ships from the Japan Coast Guard, the JS Setoyuki and JS Shimayuki, and 390 crew members started a three-day friendly visit in Đà Nẵng yesterday.

The two ships, which are led by colonel Nakagama Yoshiyuki, will pay visits to Đà Nẵng’s administrative office and the Naval Zone 3 commander.

The Japanese crew members will play a volleyball match with the Vietnamese Naval Force and have a joint music performance at the city’s Trưng Vương Theatre during the visit.

These ships will leave from Đà Nẵng’s Tiên Sa Port on Saturday.

The visit aims to promote understanding and friendship among Coast Guard forces between Việt Nam and Japan.

Đà Nẵng is working to enhance its co-operation with Yokohama, Nagasaki and Kansai.

The Japanese language is being taught at some junior secondary schools under the city’s foreign language teaching programme for 2012-20.

The city plans to build up a Việt Nam-Japan Cultural Friendship Centre in Ngũ Hành Sơn District to provide a space for Vietnamese and Japanese people to enjoy cultural performances, fashion shows and bonsai exhibitions as well as learn the Japanese language. — VNS
