HẢI PHÒNG – Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình has asked the Government Inspectorate of Việt Nam to look into residents’ complaints about land acquisition for a construction project in the port city of Hải Phòng.
The complaints were from Nguyễn Thị Thơm and some residents from Bến Bính B residential area of Thủy Nguyên District’s Tân Dương Commune, Tiền Phong (Vanguard) newspaper reported.
Their complaints related to the land acquisition process for the construction of technical infrastructure for a new urban area north of Cấm River in Tân Dương Commune.
The Government Inspectorate will be required to report its results to the Prime Minister in May.
The new urban area project was started on August 17, 2017 by Hải Phòng Urban Development Construction Management Board.
The project, which has a total investment of nearly VNĐ10 trillion (US$434.7 million), was scheduled to be complete within two years.
However, the project has been proceeding at a snail’s pace due to land clearance problems.
The project will include technical infrastructure systems, main traffic systems, a dyke on the left side of Cấm River and the 1,138 metre Hoàng Văn Thụ bridge. – VNS
