HCM CITY —  The HCM City Padiatrics No 2 Hospital and CHU Grenoble, a leading French university hospital, signed a co-operation agreement on training of paediatricians at the 7th Việt Nam-France Pediatrics Conference that wrapped on Wednesday at the HCM City Paediatrics No 2 Hospital.

The agreement will facilitate the exchange of medical students from the two countries as well as telemedicine consultation and medical conferences.

Nearly 300 domestic and French paediatricians attended the conference, which has been held since 1991.

The Việt Nam- France Paediatrics Conference was held annually until 1997 when it was halted, said Trịnh Hữu Tùng, director of HCM City Padiatrics No 2 Hospital.

The hospital reconnected with French university hospitals and organised the 7th Việt Nam- France Pediatrics Conference, Tùng said.

More than 100 paediatricians in HCM City were trained in France and played a vital role at two medical universities and three paediatrics hospitals in the city, he said.

Nguyễn Tấn Bỉnh, director of the city’s Department of Health, said the medical co-operation with French hospitals would contribute to the development of professional health staff in the country.

During the two-day conference, 14 reports about paediatric cardiology, respiratory and image diagnoses were presented by French and Vietnamese pediatricians. — VNS
