HCM CITY — The annual Pink Hat Day which will take place this Sunday at Crescent Mall in HCM City’s District 7 is calling for hair donations to support breast cancer patients.
The fund-raising event with the theme “Be a Warrior, Not a Worrier” is part of the activities organised by the Breast Cancer Network Việt Nam (BCNV) to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The BCNV expects to get 1,000 hair sets, which will be used to produce wigs for cancer patients nationwide.
The event will feature a series of activities, including outdoor yoga and yoga music with the participation of 200 people, Zumba dancing, and body painting.
Free breast screening and consultations from the Vietnam-Singapore Hospital will also be offered.
The Australian Consul General in HCM City, Karen Lanyon, will join the event as a pink hat ambassador and will help make a giant pink ribbon with 500 volunteers.
A photo exhibition on the Pink Yoga Warrior will send the message: “Listen to your body, your breath and your health, especially your breast health before any abnormal changes occur.”
The photos will feature warrior poses from Lanyon, Nguyễn Hương Giang, Miss International Transgender Beauty Queen 2018, and a group of breast cancer patients.
Loving messages shared via photos from family and community and other activities at the Pink Hat Day will show support for all cancer patients. —VNS
