Việt Nam wins gold at 2018 International Biology Olympiad

Vietnamese students attending the 2018 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) won three gold medals and one silver, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese students attending the 2018 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) won three gold medals and one silver, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).

One of the gold medals went to Nguyễn Phương Thảo from the Natural Science High School for Gifted Students under the Hà Nội National University, who made the highest score out of 261 candidates.

The two other gold medalists are Trần Thị Minh Anh from the Trần Phú High School for Gifted Students in Hải Phòng, and Hoàng Minh Trung from the Lam Sơn High School for Gifted Students in the central province of Thanh Hóa.

The silver medal was awarded to Hoàng Văn Đông from the Nguyễn Trãi High School for Gifted Students in the northern province of Hải Dương.

Anh, Trung and Đông were ranked 9, 19 and 64, respectively.

The 2018 IBO was organised in Iran with the participation of 261 contestants from 71 countries and territories.

The MOET will welcome the team back today at Nội Bài International Airport. — VNS
