HCM CITY — Ministry of Public Security on Monday issued an international arrest warrant for Vũ Hoàng Oanh, 61 years old from northern Hải Phòng City on charges of illegal drug trafficking.
Oanh allegedly led a transnational drug trafficking ring from Cambodia to HCM City.
The suspect, nicknamed ‘Hà’, rented a casino venue in Cambodia located a kilometre from the border with Việt Nam and opened gambling activities.
Trần Văn Cường and Vũ Quang Trung helped her sell the drugs in HCM City.
She also ordered her accomplices to buy or rent apartments in the city to store drugs.
On May 24, the police arrested Oanh’s accomplices and seized 103,000 ecstasy pills, 39 packs of heroin and some 30kg of synthetic drugs.
In another case, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security has busted a large-scaled drug production ring in HCM City led by Didonna Quốc Anh Phillip, a French citizen.
Phillip, born in 1992, and his accomplice Vũ An, born in 1990, were caught red-handed last month by the police exchanging one kilogramme of drugs in an apartment building in the city’s District 8.
While searching the duo’s homes, police seized up to 85,000 meth pills and many items used to produce drugs.
According to the investigation, Phillip and Vũ An rented an apartment to produce thousands of meth pills. The pair made around 20,000 meth pills each night. Further investigation is underway. — VNS
