HÀ NỘI — Two of Việt Nam’s international airports and their related structures have been approved to be added to the list of national security-related important works, according to a decision of Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc.

The newly-approved works include Nội Bài International Airport in Hà Nội, Nội Bài aerodrome control tower and radar station; Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City and its aerodrome control tower and radar station.

The Ministry of Public Security has been assigned the task of protecting the works and cooperating with relevant ministries, local people’s committees, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and other agencies to mobilise sources to ensure security and safety for the works.

In May this year, the 500kV power transmission network running through 42 provinces and cities of Việt Nam was classified as a national security-related important work by the Prime Minister.

According to the Government, a national security-related important work must satisfy specific criteria, including being an important defence or protection structure that, if sabotaged or broken, would weaken the national defence strength or directly affect the existence of the regime. — VNS
