HCM CITY — The HCM City Department of Education and Training has decided not to raise tuition at schools in all of the city’s 24 districts this year.

The city’s Department of Education and Training first sent the proposal to the city’s Department of Finance for evaluation before submitting it to the municipal People’s Committee for approval.

Tuition at kindergartens will continue to be VNĐ200,000 (US$8.6) per month for infant classes, and VNĐ160,000 ($6.9) for nursery classes.

Primary schools do not charge tuition. Secondary high schools and high schools will continue to charge tuition of VNĐ100,000 ($4.3) and VNĐ120,000 ($5.2) per month, respectively.

Schools in five outlying districts will have tuition of VNĐ100,000-140,000 ($4.3-6) per month for kindergarten. Tuition for secondary high schools and high schools in these districts will be VNĐ85,000 ($3.6) and VNĐ100,000 ($4.3) per month, respectively.

According to the city’s Department of Education and Training, the number of students from kindergarten to high school will increase by 67,000 in the upcoming school year. — VNS
