Việt Nam team ranks third in Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018

With one gold medal, four silver medals and two bronze medals, the Việt Nam team ranked the third out of 31 countries and territories in the Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018.

HÀ NỘI — With one gold medal, four silver medals and two bronze medals, Việt Nam finished third out of 31 countries and territories in the Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018.

The result, an unofficial ranking based on the number of medals, was released on May 20, with China first and Russia second.

Phạm Đức Thắng, from the High School for Gifted Students under the Hà Nội National University, won the gold medal.

Hoàng Xuân Nhật, from the High School for Gifted Students under the HCM City National University, Nguyễn Khánh, from the High School for Gifted Students under the Hà Nội National University, Trịnh Hữu Gia Phúc, from the Lam Sơn High School for Gifted Students in Thanh Hóa central province and Nguyễn Minh Tùng, from the High School for Gifted Students under the Hà Nội National University, won silver medals.

Nguyễn Hoàng Hải Minh, from the High School for Gifted Students under the Hà Nội National University and Dương Quốc Hưng, from the Thăng Long High School for Gifted Students in Lâm Đồng Central Highlands province, won bronze medals.

The Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018 was held online with 586 contestants from 31 countries and territories. A total of 87 contestants won medals.

Việt Nam had 15 contestants and joined the Olympiad online at the Hà Nội National University on May 13.

In the Olympiad last year, Việt Nam won five silver medals and one bronze medal, finishing seventh. — VNS
