HCM CITY — HCM City People’s Committee has asked the city’s Department of Education and Training to pilot a project to install cameras in public and private kindergartens starting this school year.
Nguyễn Thị Thu, deputy chairman of the committee, cited the growing number of reported cases of mental and physical abuse of children in kindergartens.
The committee asked the department to also propose solutions to minimize such abuse in the educational environment.
The city suggested that the department work with the city’s Department of Justice and Department of Information and Communication to test cameras in kindergartens, and to draw up regulations for the use of data and images from cameras by authorities, schools and parents.
The committee said the project should begin in districts that have many kindergartens, especially those that have reported a high number of child abuse cases since 2016
The committee asked the Department of Education and Training to submit details on the pilot project proposal before April 23.— VNS
