HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese nationals and tourists alike will be entertained with dazzling fireworks shows at various sites across the country on the eve of 2018 Lunar New Year, reported Vietnam News Agency.

Various localities have announced celebration plans.

In the capital city of Hà Nội, a 15-minute show will take place at 30 locations. Nine locations for high-range fireworks include Hoàn Kiếm Lake (HoànKiếm District), Ngọc Khánh Lake (Ba Đình District),Thống Nhất Park (Hai BàTrưng District), Lạc Long Quân flower garden (Tây Hồ District), Văn Quán Lake (Hà Đông District), Mỹ Đình National Stadium (Nam Từ Liêm District), Hoàng Cầu Lake (Đống Đa district), Vinhomes Riverside Complex (Long Biên District) and Sơn Tây Citadel (outskirts Sơn Tây Town).

Low-range fireworks will be displayed in the remaining 21 inner and outlying districts and towns. The exact locations will be decided by the local authorities.

Fireworks are also planned for Tết at seven locations in HCM City. High-range fireworks are expected to be displayed at Thủ Thiêm Tunnel that links district 1 and 2, while low-range fireworks will illuminate other locations. Fireworks to celebrate the New Year will also be displayed in many provinces and cities, including Đà Nẵng, Hải Phòng and Cần Thơ cities as well as Ninh Bình, Quảng Ninh, Lào Cai, Cao Bằng, Hà Giang, Bình Thuận, Bà Rịa-VũngTàu, Kiên Giang and Cà Mau provinces.

According to authorities in the above localities, funding for the fireworks have come from non-State sources.

Some provinces, including Nghệ An and Đồng Nai have decided to skip fireworks and instead use the fund to support poor people. — VNS
