HÀ NỘI — Fireworks will be displayed at 30 locations in Hà Nội on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
This was announced at a press conference on Tuesday by Trần Quốc Chiêm, deputy director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
High-altitude fireworks will be displayed at five venues in the capital city, including Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Thống Nhất Park in Hai Bà Trưng District, Lạc Long Quân flower garden in Tây Hồ District, Văn Quán Lake in Hà Đông District and Mỹ Đình Stadium in Nam Từ Liêm District, the Tiền Phong (Vanguard) online newspaper reported.
Low-altitude fireworks will be displayed in 25 other districts and towns in the city. Specific venues for the shows will be decided by the local authorities.
Some 2,500 banners and decorative lights will be hung on 12 streets in central districts of Hà Nội in January to prepare for Tết (Lunar New Year) celebrations.
The city will organise a light festival and entertainment activities and host several art performances during the holidays, Chiêm said. “The idea for a light festival has received positive feedback from the public,” he said.
The department is making proposals for cultural performances and sports activities on Hoàn Kiếm Lake and will submit them to the city’s People’s Committee, Chiêm said. — VNS
