HCM CITY — The Vietnam Vaccine Joint-Stock Co yesterday opened a new vaccination centre in HCM City’s Phú Nhuận District to serve the demands of parents and their children.
The centre has 30 healthcare rooms and other areas such as a small playground for children.
The centre provides vaccines for children and adults, including the five-in-one Pentaxim vaccine that protects infants against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B, as well as Haemophilus influenza Type B.
They also offer the six-in-one Infanrix Hexa against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and diseases caused by Haemophilis influenzae type b, and pneumococcal Synflorix, and other vaccines.
In June the company opened a centre in Hà Nội.
Dr Trần Đắc Phu, head of the Preventive Medicine Department under the Ministry of Health, said the ministry was encouraging the private sector to open more vaccination centres in other cities.
Phu said that only 12 vaccines are provided free under the National Expanded Programme on Immunization because of limited state funds.
He instructed the vaccination centres to ensure safety when they provide vaccines. — VNS
