TÂY NINH — A 35-year-old worker died on Monday after a rock plunged into his head while he was working in a quarry near Phụng Mountain in Tây Ninh Province’s Thạnh Tân Commune.

The incident occured when the victim’s company was using dynamite inside the quarry for mining purposes.

The local police are investigating the incident, and the body has been sent for autopsy.

The deceased was an employee of Tây Ninh Building Material Joint Stock Company. The company is helping his family with the funeral.

Nguyễn Đình Xuân, head of the southern province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that many companies had registered to do quarry mining near the mountain.

However, to prevent environmental damage and protect the landscape, the department had stopped all quarrying; only Tây Ninh Building Material Joint Stock Company had been permitted to continue mining, and that too only until the end of this year. — VNS
