Baptists hold third general conference

HCM CITY — The Grace Southern Baptist General Confederation is holding its third general conference in HCM City from August 8 to 11.

The event brings together 700 Baptist dignitaries and followers from 44 cities and provinces.

It aims to review the confederation’s performance in 2012-2016, elect a new executive board and map out plans for the 2016-2020 tenure.

Deputy Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Trần Tấn Hùng, praised the confederation for actively engaging in poverty reduction and charitable activities.

The confederation was established in November 1962 in HCM City and recognised by the Government as a religious organisation in 2008.

It now has over 43,000 followers across 44 cities and provinces. — VNS
