BÌNH PHƯỚC – The Bình Phước Food Administration yesterday ordered the suspension of a company’s operations following food poisoning of 33 workers who had to be hospitalised on Monday.

The Happy Spoon Co Ltd, in the Minh Hưng-Korea Industrial Zone in Minh Hưng Commune, Chơn Thành District, on Monday served lunch to more than 800 workers from Lisheng and Sung Ju companies.

An hour later, several workers developed symptoms of food poisoning such as vomiting, diarrhoea and dizziness.

They were taken to Chơn Thành District General Hospital for treatment.

It was the second such incident of poisoning of workers via food served by the Happy Spoon.

The first case happened on April 21, when hundreds of workers from the Lisheng, Xiren and Sung Ju Vina were hospitalised after they consumed lunch supplied by Happy Spoon Co Ltd.

The company was fined VNĐ60 million (US$2,600) for that incident.

Phan Thanh Dũng, director of the Bình Phước Food Administration, said investigation showed that the food poisoning was caused by remnants of plant protection substances on vegetables.

The administration has traced the origin of the company’s food.

The administration would strictly punish the company as a warning to other companies that supply meals for workers, Dũng said. – VNS
