HÀ NỘI – A Vietnamese flight attendant and her male companion have been arrested by Nội Bài International Airport Customs while trying to smuggle more than 3kg of gold into South Korea.
Flight attendant Hoàng Thị Ngọc Anh, 34, and Nguyễn Ngọc Sang, 30, passed the security checkpoints with four gold bars being undetected.
They then hid the bars under a seat on the flight from Nội Bài to South Korea’s Incheon International Airport late Tuesday.
The two suspects told police they did not declare the gold bars to customs officials and planned to sell them in South Korea for profit.
Anh was reported to be an air stewardess.
Last year, Captain Nguyễn Văn Dũng, 35, and flight attendant Nguyễn Tuấn Phong of national carrier Vietnam Airlines were arrested for smuggling 6kg of gold at Gimhae International Airport in Busan City in South Korea.– VNS
