HÀ NỘI — Households around the Hoàn Kiếm (Sword) Lake in the capital city of Hà Nội will have their doors and balconies repainted to ensure they match the area’s natural beauty.
In particular, decorative flowers will be hung in front of each house, the city’s People’s Committee said. The city will encourage agencies and locals to hang the flowers on the façade of their buildings and houses.
This is part of the city’s plans, approved two weeks ago, to redecorate the area around the Hoàn Kiếm Lake.
The city’s authority has asked authorised agencies to study the design of the façade of houses and buildings on streets around the lake. The paint color on doors, balconies and roofs must be changed to ensure conformity in the area. Advertising boards must follow regulations on size and location.
The city has assigned the People’s Committee of Hoàn Kiếm District to encourage local residents to remove eye-sores - roof terraces and structures that were added to their houses.
The city has also ordered the design of a travel information booth for tourists to be set up at the security booth of the Hoàn Kiếm District People’s Committee. Public toilets, chairs and signs with information for tourists will also be put up around the lake. — VNS
