HCM CITY — The HCM City People’s Committee has given the Department of Transport the green light for three more footbridges on some congested streets.

They will be built on Highway No 1 in front of the Economics-Laws University in Thủ Đức District, Điện Biên Phủ Street near the HCM City University of Technology in Bình Thạnh District and Hoàng Minh Giám Street section in front of Gia Định Park in Gò Vấp District.

The cost of the work is expected to come from a VNĐ33.3 billion ($1.48 million) package that the city has planned to inject into construction of small transport facilities this year.

The city’s congested roads have many pedestrian bridges – like the ones in front of Suối Tiên Park in District 9, the Oncology Hospital in District 1 and Nguyễn Tri Phương Hospital in District 5. — VNS
