TÂY NINH — The People’s Committee of Tây Ninh Province on Monday launched a 90-day campaign providing free periodic health check-ups and screenings for local residents.

At the launching ceremony, hospitals in the province registered to support the campaign, donating a total of VNĐ840 million (US$31,900) to provide free health check-ups.

For 2026 alone, it will provide health check-ups for more than 2.12 million people belonging to priority groups.

Priority groups include more than 920,000 elderly citizens, people with disabilities, members of poor and near-poor households, meritorious individuals, ethnic minorities, and residents living in disadvantaged areas.

The priority list also includes more than 570,000 kindergarten and school-aged students, alongside more than 630,000 workers employed in agencies within the political system.

The remaining target groups consist of more than 3,000 militia members and 1,000 other individuals.

Lê Văn Hẳn, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the campaign aims to raise public awareness so that every citizen understands the significance, benefits, and responsibilities of medical check-ups.

It also mobilises social resources to join hands in public healthcare.

The initiative is part of a broader plan for free periodic health check-ups and screenings for local citizens during the 2026–30 period. The plan aims to ensure 100 per cent of residents receive at least one medical check-up per year.

The Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo has determined the policy of shifting strongly from treatment to prevention, from patient care to comprehensive health care, with grassroots healthcare as the foundation and preventive medicine as the key.

Through this campaign, the province will gradually build the health database of its citizens, serving the management and monitoring of long-term healthcare needs.

The campaign is being implemented in 96 communes and wards throughout the province. — VNS
