ĐÀ NẴNG — UNIQLO Vietnam and HOPE Foundation recently inaugurated newly built classrooms and functional rooms at the Phước Công 2 Campus of Phước Chánh Kindergarten in Phước Chánh Commune, Đà Nẵng.

To support education in underserved communities, the project will upgrade the school’s facilities and provide a safer, more spacious learning environment for local children.

This upgrade aims to help the campus gradually stabilise its teaching and learning activities, while also easing the burden of daily travel for both students and parents.

Phước Chánh is a mountainous commune with a wide geographic area and a sparse population, whose livelihoods are primarily based on agriculture. Phước Chánh Kindergarten's Phước Công 2 Satellite Campus currently serves nearly 50 preschool children, most of whom are from the Giẻ Triêng ethnic community.

Built in 2013, the campus originally comprised three classrooms that had deteriorated over time.

The absence of a kitchen meant that the school was unable to provide semi-boarding lunch services for students. Many children had to return home for lunch and a midday rest before coming back to class in the early afternoon, which often affected their meals, rest, health and learning, and in some cases led to afternoon absences.

Since 2024, UNIQLO has built or upgraded facilities at five school sites and constructed one bathroom facility across three provinces and cities, including Sơn La, Quảng Trị and Đà Nẵng.

In addition to the inauguration of the school facility, UNIQLO Vietnam also donated 3,000 clothing items through its RE.UNIQLO programme to disadvantaged households in Phước Chánh Commune.

RE.UNIQLO is a global initiative designed to give clothing a new life while helping to reduce environmental impact. The donated items are pre-loved LifeWear garments that remain in good condition and were entrusted to UNIQLO by customers.

To date, 54,000 RE.UNIQLO clothing items have been distributed by the company to thousands of families across Việt Nam. — VNS
