HÀ NỘI — As the capital prepares to celebrate the 71st anniversary of its Liberation Day on October 10, Hà Nội has finalised eight major projects set to launch in early October, signalling a fresh wave of public investment and socio-economic development.
Following this year’s National Day (September 2) celebrations, which saw nine significant projects completed or inaugurated, the latest initiatives include the Thượng Cát Bridge and its approach roads, phase two of Trần Hưng Đạo Bridge with connecting routes, the Lê Hồng Phong Cadre Training School, the second Hà Nội Kidney Hospital facility, the Ngọc Trai (Pearl) Opera House in the Quảng An Peninsula (West Lake), and a themed cultural and artistic park, an underpass at Cổ Linh intersection in Long Biên Ward, and a riverside park along the Tô Lịch River.
A highlight will be the groundbreaking of Hà Nội’s Metro Line No. 2, running from Nam Thăng Long to Trần Hưng Đạo, with the ceremony planned at Xuân Đỉnh depot.
The city will also unveil detailed plans for station C9 and related works between stations C8 and C10, alongside resettlement and site clearance for the proposed square and park east of Hoàn Kiếm Lake in the historic centre.
Deputy Chairman of the Hà Nội People’s Committee Dương Đức Tuấn has ordered relevant management boards to expedite contractor selection and complete all legal documentation.
For projects including the Lê Hồng Phong Cadre Training School, the second Hà Nội Kidney Hospital, the Cổ Linh underpass and Thượng Cát Bridge, authorities are working closely with departments and investors to finalise bidding procedures and prepare for timely groundbreaking.
At the local level, authorities in Phú Lương, Bồ Đề, Hồng Hà, Thượng Cát and Thiên Lộc communes have been tasked with speeding up land clearance, compensation and resettlement to ensure site availability.
Meanwhile, the Departments of Finance and Construction, along with other units, will review project priorities, secure funding, and monitor progress to keep all projects on track. — VNS
