Hà Nội to restrict traffic to prepare for national commemoration events

Temporary bans and restrictions will be in place on several streets on trucks carrying goods weighing 500 kg or more, passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more (except buses, garbage trucks, emergency response vehicles and those with security permits) and personal cars and motorbikes.

HÀ NỘI — Several streets in central Hà Nội will face vehicle bans or restrictions from Thursday to Sunday to facilitate activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

The city's Police Department has issued traffic control plans and designated alternative routes to help residents and organisations plan their travel and work schedules.

Vehicle bans will be in effect during the following timeframes:

  • Thursday: from 4am to 8am

  • Friday: from 7am to midnight

  • Saturday and Sunday: from 6.30am to midnight

The following streets will be fully closed to traffic during these periods:

  • Đinh Tiên Hoàng

  • Lê Lai (from Lý Thái Tổ to Đinh Tiên Hoàng)

  • Lê Thạch

  • Đinh Lễ

  • Nguyễn Xí

  • Tràng Tiền (from Đinh Tiên Hoàng to Ngô Quyền)

  • Ngô Quyền (from Tràng Tiền to Lê Lai)

  • Lý Thái Tổ (from Trần Nguyên Hãn to Lê Lai)

  • Hàng Khay

  • Lê Thái Tổ

  • Hàng Dầu (from Lò Sũ to Đinh Tiên Hoàng)

  • Lò Sũ (from Hàng Dầu to Đinh Tiên Hoàng)

  • Đông Kinh Nghĩa Thục Square

  • Trần Nguyên Hãn (from Lý Thái Tổ to Đinh Tiên Hoàng)

  • Lương Văn Can (from Hàng Hành to Lê Thái Tổ)

  • Bảo Khánh (from Bảo Khánh Alley to Lê Thái Tổ)

  • Hàng Bài (from Hai Bà Trưng to Hàng Khay)

  • Bà Triệu (from Hai Bà Trưng to Hàng Khay)

  • State Bank Square (half of the road adjacent to the King Lý Thái Tổ statue garden)

In addition, temporary restrictions will be applied on several streets to the following vehicles:

  • Trucks carrying goods weighing 500kg or more

  • Passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more (excluding buses, garbage trucks, emergency vehicles, and those with authorised security permits)

  • Personal cars and motorbikes

The affected streets include:

Ngô Quyền, Lý Thái Tổ, Trần Nguyên Hãn, Nguyễn Hữu Huân, Lê Lai, Bà Triệu, Hàng Bài, Lý Thường Kiệt, Trần Hưng Đạo, Hai Bà Trưng, Lê Thánh Tông, Phan Chu Trinh, Trần Quang Khải, Trần Khánh Dư, Phố Huế, Hàng Bông, Hàng Gai, Hàng Trống, Nhà Thờ, Nhà Chung and Quang Trung.

Traffic from eastern and northeastern districts (Gia Lâm, Long Biên, Phúc Lợi, Việt Hưng) heading towards western and northwestern areas (Hai Bà Trưng, Đống Đa, Từ Liêm, Ô Diên) is advised to use alternative routes via Nhật Tân Bridge, Long Biên Bridge, Vĩnh Tuy Bridge, Thanh Trì Bridge, Trần Nhật Duật, Yên Phụ, Thanh Niên, Võ Chí Công roads, and Ring Road 3, and vice versa.

Vehicles from the north areas (Tây Hồ, Đông Anh) travelling south (Hoàng Mai, Thanh Trì...) should take routes via Nhật Tân Bridge, Thăng Long Bridge – Võ Chí Công, Phạm Văn Đồng, Phạm Hùng, Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3, and vice versa. — VNS
