HÀ NỘI — The People's Committee of Ba Đình District in Hà Nội will renovate and turn the area around Ngọc Khánh Lake into a pedestrian street.

It will open on the 70th anniversary of the capital city's Liberation Day on October 10 this year.

Local authorities plan to renovate technical infrastructure and urban embellishment of the lake’s surrounding area with a total investment of nearly VNĐ30 billion from the district’s budget.

The renovation will improve rainwater drainage capacity and create conditions for people to run businesses and offer services.

It will also provide a perfect place for residents and tourists to relax and have fun.

Road surfaces and sidewalks around Ngọc Khánh Lake and surrounding areas will be paved.

The pedestrian street will have more shade with one tree every 5sq.m.

Historical values will be integrated into urban landscape to remind about Giảng Võ Đường - an area for practising martial arts, teaching military techniques and high-level military demonstrations of feudal dynasties in the ancient capital of Thăng Long.
