HCM CITY — More than 360 Boehringer Ingelheim Việt Nam’s employees volunteered their time across Hà Nội and HCM City to support underprivileged communities and animal rescue organisations, reaffirming the company's longstanding dedication to social responsibility and sustainability.

These community volunteering activities were part of the Value Through Innovation Day (VTI Day), one of the highlights in Boehringer Ingelheim’s cultural calendar celebrated globally every May to support less fortunate people and rescue animals.

VTI Day’s theme inspired employees to take actions that deliver value through innovation, benefiting patients, animals, communities and the planet. By embracing this theme, Boehringer Ingelheim Viet Nam continues to fulfill its purpose of transforming lives for generations to come.

This year, the company conducted a series of volunteer activities at care centers for orphans, elderly and disabled people as well as animal rescue stations in Hà Nội and HCM City.

During the day, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam’s employees visited, prepared meals, engaged in handicraft work, helped clean up the area, repainted walls, planted flowers, and supported the care of approximately 1,500 children and the elderly, as well as 500 dogs and cats in various locations in Hà Nội and HCM City.

Last year, the company approached and supported nearly 500 people in need and 300 cats and dogs.

In addition to community outreach, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam is committed to leading the way in healthcare in Việt Nam. The company has also pledged to long-term co-operation with the Ministry of Health to address unmet medical needs and improve the quality of life for Vietnamese people.

Boehringer Ingelheim also remains dedicated to increasing the number of patients treated in stroke-ready hospitals and optimising the quality of stroke care through the Angels Initiative. In particular, the company has collaborated with organisations like the World Stroke Organization (WSO), Vietnam Stroke Association (VNSA), and HCMC Stroke Association (HSA), and is committed to saving lives and improving the well-being of stroke patients in Việt Nam. Through the Angels Initiative, 108 stroke-ready hospitals have been established, with over 53,000 stroke patients treated.

With the goal of improving animal health, the company has worked closely with veterinarians, pet owners and health authorities to implement the program "STOP Rabies" to pursue a rabies-free status. The programme focuses on raising community awareness about the importance of rabies prevention through vaccination and education, both of which are of paramount importance.

On April 20, Boehringer Ingelheim employees and sixty veterinary students from Nông Lâm University assisted with the rabies vaccination campaign and promoted prevention against the disease. Since 2021, this initiative has successfully vaccinated 26,500 dogs and cats. — VNS
