BÌNH PHƯỚC — Local rescue teams in the southern province of Bình Phước discovered three bodies after a boat overturned on the Bé River on Monday evening (April 29).
The Bình Phước Provincial Police, in coordination with the Lộc Ninh District Police, are currently conducting an examination and investigation to clarify a tragic drowning incident that resulted in three deaths.
The victims have been identified as Nguyễn Minh Đức, 27, Lâm Khang, 10, both residents of Lộc Quang Commune, Lộc Ninh District, and Ngô Triệu Vi, 20, a resident of Hớn Quản District.
According to initial reports, on the evening of April 29, Đức, Vi, and Khang, along with two others, were rowing a boat on the Bé River near Tân Hai Hamlet, Lộc Phú Commune, Lộc Ninh District, to catch snails.
When they were about 50 meters from the shore, the boat suddenly capsized, causing everyone on board to fall into the water.
Two individuals from the group managed to swim to shore, while the remaining three disappeared underwater.
Upon receiving the report, the firefighting and rescue forces, along with the Bình Phước Provincial Police, mobilised two specialised vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers who quickly arrived at the scene to implement a search and rescue plan.
At midnight on April 30, the rescue team discovered the bodies of the three victims, approximately 40 metres from the scene.
The incident is currently under investigation. — VNS
