HÀ NỘI — A Vietnamese man working in Taiwan has reportedly been murdered following a kidnapping.

A representative from the Labour Management Department under the Việt Nam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei stated that the department was in contact with Taiwanese agencies to gather information about the incident.

According to Taoyuan City's police, the victim is V.V.H. from Hải Dương Province, Vietnam. He entered Taiwan on October 12, 2023, and worked at a factory in Taoyuan. He did not show up for work on March 7.

Two days later, his family in Việt Nam reported that he had been kidnapped due to outstanding debts. After an investigation, police arrested five Vietnamese citizens.

It has been reported that they all admitted to kidnapping him and taking his life. They also told police they dumped his body on a sugarcane hillside in Baoxing Village, Yuanlin County.

The department is urging the company that sent V.V.H. abroad to coordinate with its Taiwanese partners to assist his family in funeral arrangements and labour-related claims. — VNS
