Hà Nội starts construction of road connecting Pháp Vân – Cầu Giẽ highway with Ring Road 3

HÀ NỘI – The Hà Nội People's Committee hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a road connecting Pháp Vân – Cầu Giẽ Highway with Ring Road 3 on Wednesday morning.

The route is expected to relieve congestion at the southern gateway of Hà Nội.

Nguyễn Chí Cường, director of the Hà Nội Management Board for Traffic Infrastructure Investment and Construction Projects, said this is an important traffic project with the goal of gradually completing the city’s main routes following transport planning.

Once the project is completed, it will solve the frequent and serious traffic jams at Pháp Vân intersection - the southern gateway of the capital, he said.

This project requires ground clearance on approximately 31.05ha of land, primarily ponds, lakes, and agricultural land.

Cường said the project along with Ring Road 4, bridges over the Red River and will promote regional linkage and increase traffic capacity for vehicles travelling from the southern provinces to Hà Nội via the Pháp Vân – Cầu Giẽ Highway.

Vice chairman of the Hà Nội People's Committee Dương Đức Tuấn emphasised the necessity and urgent need of the project construction, urging the Hà Nội Management Board for Traffic Infrastructure Investment and Construction Projects to closely coordinate with other departments, agencies, and construction contractors to implement the project in accordance with regulations, and strictly comply with standards, processes, and technical regulations.

Approved by the Prime Minister on January 21, 2020, the project covers a length of 3.4 km and has an investment of over VNĐ3.2 trillion sourced from the city budget. The project will be implemented in 2025. – VNS
