HÀ NỘI – Vietnam Airlines has recently given a recommendation to passengers to bring bags and suitcases with integrated batteries on their flights as hand or checked luggage in order to ensure flight safety and prevent the risk of spontaneous fires and explosions.

Vietnam Airlines will accept bags and suitcases integrated with lithium batteries that meet the conditions under international aviation safety regulations.

Bags or suitcases with integrated lithium batteries with removable designs and a maximum battery capacity under 300Wh can be transported as hand baggage on board.

In case passengers want to transport the bags and suitcases as checked baggage, the batteries will have to be removed.

The airline does not accept bags and suitcases with built-in removable lithium batteries with a capacity of over 300Wh.

For bags or suitcases with built-in lithium batteries with a non-removable design and a maximum battery capacity of 2.7 Wh or containing up to 0.3g of metallic lithium, Vietnam Airlines will carry it as hand baggage or checked baggage.

If passengers check in their bags, the battery must be completely powered down.

The airline will not ship bags or suitcases with integrated non-removable lithium batteries with a battery capacity in excess of 2.7 Wh or containing more than 0.3g of metallic lithium in excess of the specified capacity.

It will check information about batteries integrated with bags and suitcases before deciding to accept to transport passengers' luggage.

The bags and suitcases integrated with batteries that have no clear battery specifications or authentic document of specification attached will not be accepted for transportation in any form, said the airline. VNS
