NGHỆ AN — A mother and two children have died after the motorbike they were travelling on collided with a lorry at 6:55am on Monday in Hưng Trung Commune, Hưng Nguyên District, the central province of Nghệ An.
The motorbike was carrying the young woman and her three children to school.
The dead victims are Nguyễn Thị Hồng, 25, and her children Hoàng Văn Bảo, 10, and Hoàng Kim Oanh, 8.
Hoàng Văn Trọng, 5, suffer minor injuries. He is conscious and being monitored at the hospital.
Phan Huy Chương, deputy head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Nghệ An Province, said the lorry, registration plate 14C-201.03, was last registered on October 25, 2022. The inspection expiration date is October 23, 2023.
The Howo-brand lorry is registered to HATNN Co., Ltd in Cẩm Phả, Quảng Ninh Province.
Police have taken the lorry driver into custody for further investigation, including alcohol and drug tests.
