HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Red Cross Society (VNRC), in collaboration with the Thừa Thiên-Huế People’s Committee, will launch a Humanitarian Month 2022 in the central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế on April 28.

The event will be broadcast live on channel VTV2 of the Viet Nam Television and the HTV1 channel of the Hồ Chí Minh City Television.

With the theme “Connecting the community, spreading acts of kindness,” the month aims to call people to connect by doing kind deeds no matter how small. The movement will multiply into many beautiful actions, with each small act of kindness contributing to building a united and compassionate community.

"During the Humanitarian Month 2022 from May 1 to 31, the whole VNRC from central to local levels will strive to mobilise VNĐ400 billion to help one million people in difficult circumstances,” said the VNRC President Bùi Thị Hòa.

“Each province and city, the VNRC can carry out at least one humanitarian project or programme with direct participation and support of leaders of Party committees, local authorities, and relevant departments.”

Hòa added that at the launching ceremony of the Humanitarian Month 2022, the VNRC will launch two key programmes for the next five years, including the "Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen" and "Nutrition for poor and disabled children."

She also called on society to join hands to help poor fishermen maintain their fishing and improve the nutrition of poor and disabled children while assisting them in realising their academic dreams and changing their quality of lives.

Initiated by the VNRC in 2018, the movement has mobilised VNĐ1.513 trillion, supporting 3.3 million turns of the poor and people in difficult circumstances.

Donations should be sent to the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Red Cross Society of provinces and cities or through the Thiện nguyện (Charity) app, account number 2022. — VNS
