HÀ NỘI — The health ministry announced 85,765 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday.

The capital city of Hà Nội continued to lead daily transmissions, with 8,141 cases reported.

The remaining infections were in Bắc Giang (3,999), Nghệ An (3,731), Phú Thọ (3,580), Đắk Lắk (3,381), Yên Bái (3,206), Lào Cai (3,081), Lạng Sơn (2,625), Quảng Ninh (2,564), Quảng Bình (2,389), Hà Giang (2,356), Vĩnh Phúc (2,326), Thái Bình (2,067), Sơn La (2,023), Bắc Kạn (1,907), Bắc Ninh (1,854), Hải Dương (1,783), Tuyên Quang (1,747), Hưng Yên (1,735), Cao Bằng (1,640), Cà Mau (1,618), Quảng Trị (1,590), Lâm Đồng (1,530), Vĩnh Long (1,454), Bình Định (1,391), Tây Ninh (1,391), Thái Nguyên (1,341), Hòa Bình (1,328), Hà Nam (1,308), Điện Biên (1,295), Bình Dương (1,210), Lai Châu (1,056), Ninh Bình (1,047), Bình Phước (1,034), Hồ Chí Minh City (984), Bến Tre (899), Hà Tĩnh (784), Đà Nẵng (783), Quảng Ngãi (766), Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu (712), Nam Định (695), Thừa Thiên-Huế (672), Trà Vinh (642), Thanh Hóa (570), Hải Phòng (466), Khánh Hòa (466), Đắk Nông (452), Bình Thuận (423), Phú Yên (320), Quảng Nam (276), Kon Tum (201), An Giang (189), Bạc Liêu (163), Kiên Giang (135), Long An (117), Sóc Trăng (112), Đồng Tháp (54), Đồng Nai (49), Cần Thơ (41), Hậu Giang (29), Ninh Thuận (26) and Tiền Giang (5).

The seven-day average of new cases in the country is currently 97,357, down from 137,890 a week ago.

Việt Nam’s total COVID-19 caseload now stands at 9,472,254, ranking 14th of 225 countries worldwide.

A total of 114,685 COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,268,531 since the start of the pandemic.

More than 3,630 seriously ill COVID-19 patients are in active treatment, including five on life support.

There were 41 COVID-19 related deaths recorded, putting the total fatalities nationwide at 42,454, or 0.5 per cent of infections.

The deaths were in Kiên Giang (6), Bến Tre (4), Đắk Lắk (4), Sóc Trăng (4), Lạng Sơn (3), Bình Dương (2), Bình Định (2), Trà Vinh (2), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (1), Bạc Liêu (1), Cần Thơ (1), Đà Nẵng (1), Đắk Nông (1), Điện Biên (1), Đồng Nai (1), Gia Lai (1), Lâm Đồng (1), Nam Định (1), Thái Nguyên (1), Thanh Hóa (1), Hồ Chí Minh (1) and Vĩnh Long (1).
