THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — The central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế has commenced construction of the coastal road and a sea cross bridge in Thuận An Township on 21.8km with a total investment of VNĐ3.49 trillion (US$152 million) that promotes links of provincial key economic zones and the national coastal traffic system.

The project, one of the province's most important infrastructure items in the post-COVID-19 economic recovery, was designed with four lanes and a 2.3km bridge crossing the Thuận An estuary.

The province said the coastal road is expected to be finished in 2025, creating smooth traffic among Quảng Trị, Đà Nẵng, Thừa Thiên-Huế and the East-West Economic Corridor that links Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Việt Nam.

The road will also help promote tourism, seaport, economic zones and industrial parks in the Chân Mây – Lăng Cô Economic Zone and a 1,500ha beach urban zone, offering available infrastructure for investment.

It’s also part of the province’s comprehensive infrastructure development plan to create an open investment environment for new investment funding in the post-COVID-19 period.

The Chân Mây – Lăng Cô Economic Zone, located about 6-7km from National Highway No 1 and the North-South railway with two airports of Phú Bài and Đà Nẵng, is home to 47 projects with a total registered investment of VNĐ79.3 trillion ($3.4 billion) for tourism, urban, logistics and high-tech.

Thừa Thiên–Huế has been speeding up the infrastructure construction to lure strategic investors and environmentally friendly projects, while the Chân Mây Port has been upgraded to handling six million tonnes of cargo per year.

According to a report from the province, the Bách Việt Automobile Manufacturing Industry Joint Stock Company – one of the key investors in Chân Mây-Lăng Cô EZ – has commenced an automobile assembly and manufacturing complex with a total investment of $117.4 million. — VNS
