HÀ NỘI — The number of daily COVID-19 cases continues to rise with a record 26,487 registered on Friday.

Of the new infections, there were 16 imported cases and 26,471 locally transmitted reported in 62 provinces and cities nationwide.

Hà Nội again had the highest number of infections with 2,908, followed by Nghệ An with 1,501 and Hải Dương with 1,447.

Other transmissions were detected in Hải Phòng (1,398), Bắc Ninh (1,390), Nam Định (1,287), Thái Nguyên (976), Ninh Bình (942), Đà Nẵng (927), Bắc Giang (910), Hòa Bình (879), Vĩnh Phúc (856), Phú Thọ (765), Thanh Hóa (686), Bình Định (503), Quảng Bình (493), Quảng Nam (492), Thái Bình (490), Quảng Ninh (477), Lào Cai (470), Lạng Sơn (440), Quảng Trị (420), Tuyên Quang (393), Sơn La (383), Hưng Yên (379), Lâm Đồng (340), Đắk Lắk (311), Bình Phước (290), Phú Yên (284), Khánh Hòa (263), Hồ Chí Minh City (260), Hà Tĩnh (259), Thừa Thiên Huế (257), Hà Nam (216), Quảng Ngãi (211), Đắk Nông (180), Kon Tum (178), Yên Bái (164), Cao Bằng (138), Cà Mau (134), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (133), Điện Biên (133), Hà Giang (115), Bắc Kạn (84), Bình Dương (77), Vĩnh Long (73), Bình Thuận (73), Lai Châu (69), Bến Tre (65), Trà Vinh (65), Đồng Tháp (45), Bạc Liêu (44), Sóc Trăng (34), Long An (31), Tây Ninh (31), Đồng Nai (20), An Giang (19), Kiên Giang (16), Hậu Giang (16), Cần Thơ (15), Ninh Thuận (8) and Tiền Giang (8).

The national tally reached 2,457,170, which includes 192 Omicron infections.

In the last seven days, the country confirmed an average of 20,203 new COVID-19 cases daily.

There are 2,586 patients in critical condition, with 17 on life support.

An additional 96 deaths were recorded, taking total fatalities to 38,784, accounting for 1.6 per cent of the total caseload.

A total of 6,075 patients were given the all-clear on Friday, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,212,669.

Nearly 185 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Việt Nam. More than 167.7 million doses were for adults, including nearly 70.7 million first doses, over 68 million second doses and nearly 17.9 million third doses.

Out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, 53 have second-dose coverage of more than 90 per cent, while 10 have at least 82 per cent.

More than 16.37 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to children, including nearly 8.5 million first doses and more than 7.9 million second doses. — VNS
