ĐÀ NẴNG — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has approved the proposal to upgrade the University of Đà Nẵng to National Đà Nẵng University, placing it in the triangle strategic development system including Hà Nội and HCM City.

The Đà Nẵng-based university will be one of three high-quality human resource education centres in the country after Hà Nội and HCM City.

The PM also agreed to build up a start-up innovation support centre at Đà Nẵng University with the Government’s preferential policies on the development of the centre.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will collaborate with Đà Nẵng City in the project to build the city as a regional finance centre and a free-duty zone in Đà Nẵng.

Đà Nẵng and Quảng Nam Province, in co-operation with relevant agencies and the ministry of education and training, have been speeding the construction plan on the Đà Nẵng University Village project after a 20-year delay.

The Đà Nẵng University Village project, which covers 300ha in Quảng Nam’s Điện Bàn Town and Đà Nẵng’s Ngũ Hành Sơn District, has been designed as a leading, reputed centre for international scientific research and a rendezvous for scholars worldwide, boosting international cooperation.

It will be a key urban hub for the Central and Central Highlands regions.

Đà Nẵng University, which is one of the top 50 universities in ASEAN, and a key human resource centre for the central and Central Highlands regions, has developed 12 college-level education centres and trains 90,000 students in technology, engineering, science, economics, trade, finance, foreign languages, medicine, culture, tourism and media studies.

A Maker Innovation Space was established at the university in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development and Arizona State University.

In 2020, the Technology Science University under the University of Đà Nẵng started the first training course for aviation engineering following human resource training orders from Universal Alloy Corporation, an aircraft components factory company from the US. — VNS
