HÀ NỘI — A total of 16,555 new COVID-19 infections were reported in the country on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases since the start of pandemic to 1,588,335. Hà Nội again registered the highest number of transmissions with 1,646.
Out of the new cases, 10,938 were detected in the community, and 33 imported and quarantined upon arrival.
Hà Nội was followed by Cà Mau and HCM City with 1,193 and 979 cases respectively.
The other transmissions were found in Tây Ninh (923), Vĩnh Long (846), Khánh Hòa (798), Đồng Tháp (784), Cần Thơ (757), Bạc Liêu (678), Trà Vinh (515), Bến Tre (466), Hải Phòng (449), Sóc Trăng (383), Bình Định (359), Thừa Thiên Huế (351), Hậu Giang (343), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (297), Đắk Lắk (297), Lâm Đồng (295), An Giang (291), Kiên Giang (275), Đồng Nai (265), Hưng Yên (261), Bình Thuận (259), Bắc Ninh (246), Tiền Giang (199), Thanh Hóa (196), Quảng Ngãi (194), Gia Lai (180), Đà Nẵng (171), Bình Dương (149), Quảng Ninh (134), Phú Yên (129), Nghệ An (121), Hà Giang (100), Lạng Sơn (90), Quảng Nam (85), Thái Bình (72), Long An (71), Đắk Nông (71), Hải Dương (67), Vĩnh Phúc (62), Bình Phước (61), Ninh Thuận (55), Nam Định (54), Quảng Trị (53), Phú Thọ (39), Quảng Bình (34), Hòa Bình (32), Bắc Giang (30), Thái Nguyên (28), Hà Nam (24), Tuyên Quang (21), Lào Cai (10), Kon Tum (10), Cao Bằng (8 ), Yên Bái (7), Sơn La (5), Bắc Kạn (3) and Lai Châu (1).
A further 210 deaths were announced on Wednesday, taking the total COVID-related death toll to 30,251.
The fatalities were recorded in HCM City (46), An Giang (27), Bình Dương (17), Tiền Giang (15), Tây Ninh (13), Đồng Tháp (12), Sóc Trăng (11), Cần Thơ (11), Kiên Giang (10), Vĩnh Long (8 ), Bình Thuận (6), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (6), Hà Nội (5), Bạc Liêu (5), Cà Mau (5), Long An (4), Trà Vinh (3), Bình Định (2), Bến Tre (2), Đắk Lắk (1) and Hậu Giang (1).
A total of 13,394 recoveries were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of patients given the all-clear nationwide to more than 1,173,484.
There are currently 8,187 people being treated in healthcare facilities with the virus, including 21 on life support.
More than 141 million vaccine doses have been administered in the country to date, with just over 63.3 million people being fully vaccinated.— VNS
