President visits feted teachers in HCM City

President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on Monday called on a number of teachers in HCM City ahead of Teacher’s Day, November 20, and praised them for their efforts and various achievements.

HCM CITY — President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on Monday called on a number of teachers in HCM City ahead of Teacher’s Day, November 20, and praised them for their efforts and various achievements.

Accompanied by the Secretary of the city Party Committee, Nguyễn Văn Nên, he met with Triệu Thị Huệ who has taught at Nguyễn Trãi and Lê Hồng Phong high schools for the last 26 years.

He hailed her dedication to teaching and hoped she could overcome the loss of her husband to COVID-19 and continue pursuing the honourable mission of education.

He then called on Assoc. Prof. Lý Hòa, former rector of the HCM City General University, who has been honoured by the Government as a 'Hero of Labour in the Renewal Period'.

On behalf of Party and State leaders, Phúc thanked him for his outstanding contribution to the country’s education.

Even after retirement Hòa continues to devote himself to training of postgraduate courses in physics in some southern universities. — VNS
