HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health reported 9,849 new COVID-19 infections and 67 COVID-related deaths on Wednesday.
The total caseload in Việt Nam now stands at 1,055,246, of which 1,050,185 are the result of the fourth wave of infections that have swept the country since late April.
HCM City recorded the highest daily case count with 1,337, an increase of 154 cases compared to Tuesday's figure, followed by Đồng Nai with 664 cases and Bình Dương with 601 cases.
Authorities in Hà Nội reported 218 new cases.
The other cases were detected in An Giang (527), Tiền Giang (526), Bình Thuận (489), Đồng Tháp (489), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (428), Kiên Giang (396), Tây Ninh (376), Sóc Trăng (364), Bạc Liêu (323), Vĩnh Long (290), Cà Mau (233), Bình Phước (217), Đắk Lắk (188), Bến Tre (180), Long An (153), Trà Vinh (152), Cần Thơ (145), Khánh Hòa (144), Hà Giang (134), Bắc Ninh (107), Thừa Thiên Huế (96), Hậu Giang (94), Bình Định (87), Hải Dương (81), Bắc Giang (79), Quảng Ninh (79), Nghệ An (77), Quảng Nam (70), Thái Bình (60), Nam Định (51), Đà Nẵng (37), Quảng Ngãi (36), Ninh Thuận (34), Đắk Nông (32), Quảng Bình (29), Thanh Hóa (29), Tuyên Quang (25), Ninh Bình (19), Hà Nam (18), Phú Thọ (17), Cao Bằng (16), Quảng Trị (15), Hà Tĩnh (14), Phú Yên (13), Hưng Yên (12), Vĩnh Phúc (11), Hải Phòng (7), Kon Tum (7), Hòa Bình (6), Thái Nguyên (3), Điện Biên (3), and Lào Cai (1).
Among Wednesday's new cases, 10 were imported and the rest were local transmissions. A total of 4,956 infections were detected in the community.
The 67 COVID-related deaths were in Hồ Chí Minh City (26), Bình Dương (12), An Giang (7), Tây Ninh (4), Long An (4), Cần Thơ (3), Sóc Trăng (3), Bình Thuận (2), Bạc Liêu (2), Hà Nội (1), Vĩnh Long (1), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (1), Đồng Tháp (1).
There have been 23,337 COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam to date, accounting for 2.2 per cent of total cases.
According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 4,338 patients nationwide are in a serious condition, with 394 requiring invasive ventilation and 11 on life support (ECMO).
A further 3,873 patients were given the all-clear on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 874,870.
More than 102 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Việt Nam and over 36.8 million people are now fully inoculated. VNS
