HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s Ministry of Health received 50,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Austria at a handover ceremony in Hà Nội on Tuesday.
The event was attended by the Austrian Ambassador to Việt Nam Hans-Peter Glanzer and Việt Nam’s Deputy Minister of Health Đỗ Xuân Tuyên.
In a symbolic ceremony, the Austrian Ambassador to Việt Nam expressed his appreciation of Việt Nam’s achievements in its COVID-19 vaccination drive and his happiness in contributing to the country’s pandemic prevention efforts through this vaccine donation.
Acknowledging the impact of COVID-19 on every country in the world, Tuyên expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Austrian Government, organisations and businesses, which have contributed to the improvement of Việt Nam’s healthcare services through various projects.
“This support is even more meaningful as the two countries are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relation (1972-2022), thereby further promoting cordial and cooperative relations between Việt Nam and Austria,” emphasised Tuyên.
Việt Nam has received over 135 million COVID-19 vaccine doses and administered over 100 million shots to date. The country is also accelerating the vaccination programme for children aged 12 to 17 while ensuring pandemic prevention measures. — VNS
